Lectureship in Modern Greek language and culture, Columbia University

The Program in Hellenic Studies at Columbia University invites applications for a lecturer in Modern Greek language and culture, to begin July 1, 2016. Initial appointment is for three years with the possibility of renewal thereafter. The successful candidate will be appointed as a full-time Lecturer in Discipline in Modern Greek in the Classics Department. Teaching duties will include courses in Modern Greek language and culture (elementary to advanced), as well as the possibility of teaching courses in the candidate's area of specialization. Candidates with comparative interests and an expertise in Greek film, history, anthropology, literature and linguistics are encouraged to apply. Ph.D. and native or near native competence in Modern Greek and a strong commitment to proficiency-based teaching of the Modern Greek language are necessary for all applicants, as is training in language pedagogy.
