2017 GRADUATE RESEARCH COLLOQUIUM IN MODERN GREEK STUDIES

CALL FOR PAPERS

Submissions are invited from registered graduate students (MA, MPhil or MPhil(b), PhD) at UK universities for the 2017 Graduate Research Colloquium organized by the Society for Modern Greek Studies. The Colloquium aims at bringing together students from a wide range of fields and whose research is related to some aspect of Modern Greek society and culture. It gives them an opportunity to present their research and discuss their ideas with their peers but also with distinguished scholars.

Visiting students from other countries may also be considered if there is room in the programme; they should enquire before submitting an abstract. Participants need to be members of SMGS; if not, they may register at:

http://www.moderngreek.org.uk/society/join

Papers should be in English and should on no account exceed 20 minutes to allow for questions and discussion at the end of each session. Proposals, including a title and abstract, should be sent as an e-mail attachment to Dr Liana Giannakopoulou, ag585@cam.ac.uk

Submissions need to arrive by Monday 24 April 2017 at the latest. Abstracts should be of no more than 200 words. Please indicate the degree for which you are registered, your university, and the name and e-mail of your supervisor. Please include both your postal address and e-mail. Those who submit proposals will be notified by 15 May whether their submissions have been accepted. Speakers receive lunch and coffee/tea as well as reimbursement of their travel expenses within the UK and up to a maximum of £50.

The colloquium will take place on Thursday 15 June, at the Senate House, University of London, Room 261.
