2009 GRADUATE RESEARCH COLLOQUIUM
The Society for Modern Greek Studies (SMGS)
2009 Graduate Research Colloquium
Exeter College, Oxford, Saturday 23 May 2009
CALL FOR PAPERS
This year’s Graduate Research Colloquium will take place at Oxford, in the Saskatchewan Room of Exeter College (Turl Street), on Saturday 23 May, from 10.30 am until about 6.30 pm. Contributions may be in any area of Modern Greek Studies, including history, literature, linguistics, anthropology, art history, media studies etc., or they may be of an interdisciplinary nature.
Submissions are invited from registered postgraduate students (MA, MPhil, PhD) at UK universities. Visiting students and those who have recently completed a research degree are welcome to attend, but would not normally be considered for inclusion as a speaker.
Papers should be in English and should on no account exceed 20 minutes. There will be a maximum of ten speakers, with questions and discussion at the end of each session. Proposals, including a title and abstract, should be sent as an e-mail attachment to Professor Marc Lauxtermann (marc.lauxtermann@exeter.ox.ac.uk), to arrive by Friday 1 May at the latest.
Abstracts should be of no more than 200 words (please transliterate any Greek words to avoid software problems). Please also indicate the degree for which you are registered, your university, and the name of your supervisor. Please include both your postal address and e-mail. Those who submit proposals will be notified by Monday 4 May whether their papers have been accepted. Speakers will receive a free lunch and reimbursement of their travel expenses.
