The Durrell School of Corfu (http://www.durrell-school-corfu.org) is hosting a week-long "seminar" (conference), on "Cultural Collisions: Culture, Society and the State", 31 May to 5 June 2009. The seminar will be based in the Durrell School's Headquarters in the old centre of Corfu town. The topic allows plenty of scope for submissions on Modern Greek themes. Modern Greek position in San Francisco, USA

Applications are being accepted for an instructor’s position in Modern Greek Studies for the Fall 2008 or the Spring of 2009. We are seeking doctoral candidates or holders of a PhD who specialize in the teaching of Modern Greek language, literature and/or history to teach at least one course in these aforementioned areas in the Modern Greek Studies Program at San Francisco State University.

Narrative research is frequently described as a diverse enterprise, yet the kinds of narrative data that it bases itself on present a striking consensus: they tend to be autobiographical and elicited in interviews. This book sets out to carve out a space alongside this narrative canon for stories that have not made it to the mainstream of narrative and identity analysis, yet they abound as well as being crucial sites of subjectivity in everyday interactional contexts.

University of Reading, 30th June to 5th July 2008

The University of Reading will be running its first Summer School in Modern Greek from 30th June to 5th July 2008.

Classes will be offered at two levels, Beginners and Intermediate, and will occupy 3-4 hours per day. No prior knowledge is needed for the Beginners' level.

All are welcome. Accommodation is available on campus for those who would like it. A number of bursaries to assist with costs is available through the generosity of SMGS (formerly SCOMGIU).
